Complex lipid-estero'lico: n-tetracosanol, n-docosanol (alifático alcohol) and its esters beta-sitosterol. Flavonoides. Acidos organic.
Farmacológica Action
The clinical studies show that the complex lipid-estero'lico reduces to the miccionales upheavals associate to the benign adenoma of prostate (poliaquiuria, miccional urgency and nicturia), increasing the flow urinary and reducing the volume of tinkles residual, which accompanies by a sensation of symptomatic improvement and a subjective sensation of improvement in the quality of life. It does not reduce the size of the adenoma.
Some clinical studies show that its effectiveness is comparable to the one of the Serenoa repens.
Its mechanism of action has not been explained completely. They can influence several factors, in special his antiinflammatory action (by inhibition of 5-lipoxigenasa of polimorfonucleares which they infiltrate the prostate weave), as well as its regenerative effect of epitelio secretory prostate, that contributes to restabler the secretory function of the gland (it has been described that the complex lipid-estero'lico of African Prunus induces the regeneration of epitelio prostate in animals).
Although most of studies they exclude its interaction with the metabolism from the testosterone, it has been described that, in vitro, inhibits of partial form the 5-alpha-reductasa and aromatasa, reason why did not have to discard its possible action on epitelio prostate, whose growth is hormonodependiente.
Recently it has been verified that the extract inhibits, in vitro, the cellular proliferation induced the main factors of prostate tissue growth (EGF, factor of epidérmico growth; bFGF, factor of basic growth of fibroblasts and IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1). The inhibition of the proliferation also was observed in absence of stimulation and with cells stimulated by an activator of proteín kinasa C (TPA).
Some animal studies show that the complex lipid-estero'lico of African Prunus, in elevated doses, prevents the functional problems with vejiga produced to him by partial obstruction of uretra, without diminishing hipertrofia vesical compensating.
Indications
Benign adenoma of prostate, previous treatment to prostate surgery, urinary upheavals post-adenomectomía. Prostatitis.
Some revisions aim that the made clinical studies have lasted too much limited and that has been much variability in its design, reason why the clinical evidences of the utility of African Prunus would require prolonged studies more, with standardized preparations.
Indirect effect
It can produce slight gastric annoyances.
