WHITE ORTIGA

Of the family of the Labiadas.

Indication: Uterine circulation. External use: for pains swollen feet.

Used Part

The flowery sumidades.

Active Principles

Saponósidos triterpénicos; mucílagos; flavonoides: lamiósido; fenolcarboxilílicos acids: rosmarínico. Iridoide Glucósido: lamalbósido. Catéquicos tannins (5-10%); essential oil plans; betaína (estaquidrina).

Farmacológica Action

Expectorante, antihypertensive and antiinflammatory by the saponósidos ones; diurético, by the action of the flavonoides. Tonic, antiseptic and slightly hemostatic astringent, by tannins and fenoles. Demulcente, by the action of the mucílagos.

Indications

Influenza, resfriados, faringitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, enfisema, asthma. Gastritis, diarreas. Arterial hypertension. Cystitis, helping in treatments in which an increase of the diuresis is required (overweight, edemas by venous insufficiency, hiperuricemia, oliguria, drop). Popularly used in the treatment of metrorragias, dismenorreas, like purifying "rebajar sangre", antirheumatic and hipoglucemiante, and externally in: eczemas, cutaneous ictiosis, escoceduras, abrasions and irritations, hiperhidrosis, vulvovaginitis, hemorroides, glositis, estomatitis, faringitis, parodontopatías, hurt and burns.

Contraindications

Not to prescribe oral forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.

Precaution/Poisonings

To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.

Galénicas Forms/Dosage

Internal use:

- Infusion: 5 g by cup (30 g/l), to instill 10 minutes. Two or three cups to the day, after the meals.

- fluid Extract (1:1): 25 to 30 drops, two or three times to the day.

- It tinctures (1:10): 50-100 drops, one to three times to the day.

- Syrup (5% of extract or 40% of dye): A sopera spoonful, one to three times to the day.

- dry Extract (5:1): 0,3 to 1 g/día.

External use:

- Decocción: 50 g/l, to boil 10 minutes. To apply in form of compresas, vaginal, colutorios lotions, baths, washings, garglings.

- Dye or glicólico extract, in form of lotions, creams or gels.
