Description: Annual grass of the family of the Crucíferas, that reaches sometimes up to 1 meter of height; flowers of color yellow that grow in terminal clusters and cleared seeds of very small size, inferior to 1 mm of diameter. Medicinally the seeds are used.
Habitat: It grows of spontaneous form in lands and uncultivated fields without cultivating of all Europe and America.

The Greeks had in great esteem the curativas properties of the seeds of the mustard, and attributed their discovery Æsculapius.
Active components: All the plant contains glucósido, (sinigrina), that by action of enzyma mironasa, it becomes sulphured essential oil of strong revulsiva action. The mucílagos that also contain the seeds, resist part of the revulsiva action. The mustard is used, in form of flour, that applied with cataplasms is effective in cases of reumatismo, sciatic, neuralgias, pulmonary congestión and acute bronchitis. It attracts the blood towards the skin of the zones where it is applied, clearing therefore internal weaves and organs.
It is used from old in baths of feet, to remedy migraines caused by viral infection of vias respiratory discharges (influenza, sinusitis, colds), or by arterial hypertension.
How much I must take?
For external use, the mustard flour, mixed with the one of linseed to cushion their irritant effect, is applied in cataplasms I warm up twice one or daily during 10 to 15 minutes.
For pediluvios (baths of feet), 10 to 15 dissolve gr.. of mustard flour in 3 liters of hot water, and the feet are baáan during 5 to 10 minutes until twice daily.
There are indirect effect or interactions?
The mustard internally is very irritating and totally is advised against, specially to people who suffer of dispepsia or of gastroduodenal ulcer.
