Abundant tannins. Heterósidos iridoideos: aucubósido (derived from the harpágido one). Acidos fenolcarboxílicos: caféico, clorogénico. Ajugarina.
Farmacológica Action
Popularly astringente(antidiarréico, healing) and stimulating is considered of the appetite.
Indications
Diarreas. Lack of appetite.
In topical use: hurt and dérmicas, buccal or corneales ulceraciones, blefaritis, conjuntivitis, parodontopatías, faringitis, dermatitis, eritemas, prurito, vulvovaginitis.
Contraindications
Gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer: the tannins can irritate the gastric mucosa. This indirect effect can be palliated associating it to drugs with mucílagos, like the malvavisco.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
Internal use:
- Infusion: a spoonful of dessert by cup, to instill 10 minutes. Two or three cups to the day.
External use:
- Infusion: a sopera spoonful by cup. To apply in form of washings, ocular compresas, colutorios, garglings, baths (to isotonizar), or vaginal irrigations.
