Essential oil (1-3%): Lactonas sesquiterpénicas type germacraneno(alantolactonas), alifáticos hydrocarbons. Triterpenos; esteroles: beta-sitosterol, estigmasterol. Polisacáridos homogenous: inulina (50%) and other fructosanas. Potassium salts.
Farmacológica Action
Due to the inulina and to the potassium salts it acts like diurético, increasing the water elimination and sodium. The helenina is responsible for its espasmolítica, béquica, expectorante, antiseptic, antifúngica, antihelmíntica action and colerético-colagoga. In addition she is vulneraria (healing) and antipruriginosa in external use.
Indications
States in which an increase of the diuresis is required: genitourinarias affections (cystitis, uretritis, uretritis, pielonefritis, oliguria, urolitiasis), hiperazotemia, hiperuricemia, drop, arterial hypertension, edemas, overweight accompanied by retention of liquids.
In topical use: wounds, ulcers, eczemas, urticaria, dermatomicosis.
Contraindications
Gastroduodenal gastritis, ulcus (to see precautions).
Not to prescribe forms of metering with alcoholic content for oral administration to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Precaution/Poisonings
Lactonas sesquiterpénicas, specially alactolactonas, is irritating of the skin and mucous: by topical route they can cause contact dermatitis and, in doses orally elevated, a gastroenteritis picture.
To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
Internal use:
- Decocción: 25 g/l, to boil 10 minutes, a cup before the meals.
- Dust: 2 to 5 g/día.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 10 to 25 drops, one to three times to the day.
- It tinctures (1:10): 30-50 drops, two or three times to the day.
- dry Extract (5:1): 300 to 900 mg/día.
External use:
- Decocción: 30 g/l, to boil 10 minutes. To apply in form of compresas.
