Tannins (5%), essential oil (0,5-1%) rich in tuyona (50-60%), accompanied by fenchona, alpha-pineno, borneol. Flavonoides: glucósidos of kenferol and quercetol.
Farmacológica Action
Popularly used like emenagogo, antihelmíntico and expectorante; in external use, like astrigente and antihemorroidal; the essential oil like antiverrucoso.
Indications
In external use, hemorroides, condilomas, papilomas, warts. It has been used for the treatment of menstrual transtornos, bronchitis, enfisema, intestinal asthma and parasitism.
Precaution/Poisonings
We recommended to avoid its administration internally: tuyona is neurotoxic a powerful one, being able to trigger, to elevated doses, epileptiformes and tetaniformes, transtornos crises psychic and sensorial and hypotension.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
- It tinctures (1:5): to apply to the day twice, during several weeks, on warts (specially for those of so large minor).
- essential Oil or fluid extract (1:1), applied in form of I touch on warts, papilomas and condilomas. To protect the surrounding zone with filante petroleum jelly.
