Active Principles
Abundant catéquicos tannins (15-20%), that during the drying process and storage are become flobafenos; flavantrioles and procianidinas; elágicos tannins (6,2%): free elagitanino, acids gálico and elágico. Pseudosaponósido: tormentósido; quinóvico acid; fenil-carboxílicos acids: caféico, p-cumarínico, sinápico. Essential oil resin, rubber, plans.
Farmacológica Action
By its tannin wealth it is a good drug astringent: antidiarreico, the hemostatic premises, healing. In addition their effects like antiinflammatory, antibacterial, antialergénico, antihypertensive, inmunoestimulante and antiviral have been demonstrated.
Indications
Diarreas, prevention and treatment of gripales syndromes and resfriados, helping in the treatment of the arterial hypertension. Hemorroides, hair fragility, functional, varices uterine hemorrhages.
Not to prescribe oral forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Indirect effect
By its abundance in tannins, it could be irritating from the gastric mucosa. In order to avoid we recommended it to combine it with root of malvavisco.

Galénicas Forms/Dosage
Internal use:
- Decocción: 30 g/l, to boil 10 minutes. Three or four cups to the day.
- Maceration: 5 g/l. To leave in maceration during 12 hours. To take three or more cups to the day. It has the advantage of which it conserves a greater proportion of tannins, when not hidrolizar itself by the action of the heat.
- Dust: 2 to 4 g/día, in capsules.
- dry Extract (5:1): 250-500 mg/cápsula. One to eight to the day.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 30-50 drops, one to three times to the day.
- It tinctures (1:10): 50-100 drops, one to three times to the day.
External use:
- Maceration or decocción to 5%. To apply in form of lotions, vaginal compresas, colutorios, garglings or irrigations.
