Tea of Aragón

The use of this tea is very extended in Spain in the territories of the old Crown of Aragón. Its tisane very is appreciated, and has an pleasant alcanforado scent, with a a little bitter flavor. It replaces with advantage the common tea. The rock tea was not known by Dioscórides and other authors of the classic antiquity, because it does not grow up in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Habitat: own of the countries of the western Mediterranean. In Spain it abounds in Catalonia, Aragón and Valencia, specially in mountainous zones of Mediterranean vegetation. One is in the cracks of calcáreas rocks, which has given rise to its name.

Description: it plants vivaz of the family of the Compound ones, formed by a small ligneous stock from which every year several 40 emerge stems from 20 to cms. of height. All the plant is viscous and is covered of a smooth hair. The flowers are of yellow color, very small, and they are grouped in small heads in the end of the stems.

Used parts: the flowery leaves and sumidades.

Properties and indications: its composition is not well well-known, although it knows positively that it contains neither theine nor caffein. It has an essence that grant digestive properties to him, as well as abundant tannins that justify their use like antidiarreico.

Digestive problems: popularly it is used in cases of shyness, slow and heavy, diarreas indigestión, digestions and intestinal fermentations or rottings.

Nervous problems: it also presents/displays an action tonificante, free of irritant effects on the nervous system, as it happens with the coffee or the tea.

Use: to make an infusion of the plant (from 20 to 40 grs.) by each liter of water, from that they are taken up to 5 daily cups, after the meals.
