The root and rizoma of the Polygala varieties senega L. and tenuiflora Polygala Willd. (sibirica P. L.).
Active Principles
Saponósidos triterpénicos (5%): senegasaponósido (that hidroliza in glucose, arabinosa, metilpentosa, mineral acids senegénico, poligálico and senegenina), matters, sugars, poligalitol, oil accompanied by espinasterol, essential oil plans (0,2%), that contain a 25-45% of methyl salicylate.
Not to prescribe oral forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Indirect effect
The mechanism of expectorante action of polígala is because the saponósidos ones irritate the gastric mucosa, which produces a reflected increase of the bronchial secretions, that become more fluid and easy to eliminate. Due to their elevated content in saponósidos, in prolonged treatments, by individual hypersensitivity or sobremetering, can produce accompanied gastrointestinal irritation of nauseas, vomits and diarrea.
In fresh state he is irritating of the mucous.
Precaution/Poisonings
Exclusive use by prescription and under medical checkup.
To consider the alcoholic content of the flowed extract, the dye and the syrup.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
- Decocción: 3 soperas spoonfuls by liter, to boil 2 minutes. To instill during 10 minutes. To take 3 or 4 cups to the day.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 20-40 drops, one to three times to the day.
- It tinctures (1:10): 50-100 drops, one to three times to the day.
- dry Extract (5:1): 150 to 300 mg/día.
- Syrup (10% of fluid extract): three spoonfuls of dessert to the day.
