Plant little studied. It is had isolated: Piscídico Acido, piscidina (it mixes of glucósidos), rotenona, fitosteroles (beta-sitosterol), plans of alkaloids.
Farmacológica Action
Sedative, analgesic, slightly espasmolítico. Rotenona is insecticide. Popularly, in Central America, one is used by its ictiotóxicas properties.
Indications
Neurovegetativos, varices anxiety, insomnia, upheavals, neuralgias, dismenorreas, syndrome of the null and voidable intestine.
Contraindications
Pregnancy, lactancia, children.
Not to prescribe oral forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Indirect effect
It can produce a narcotic, accompanied effect of midriasis, profuse perspiration and increase of the arterial tension.
Precaution/Poisonings
By the presence of rotenona and alkaloids of nature nondetermined and to the delay of future studies that explain better their mechanism of action and possible toxicity, we recommended to avoid its oral administration, or to do it with low doses, as complement of formulations, in short treatments.
To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
- Infusion to 3%: one to three cups to the day.
- fluid Extract (1:10): 10-20 drops, one to three times to the day.
- It tinctures (1:10): 30-50 drops, two or three times to the day.
- dry Extract (1:5): 25 mg/dosis. One to three to the day.
