Discovered and used from the Renaissance. Because floral his ramilletes has aspect of blood clots, it thought that this plant could be useful for the treatment of the hemorrhages. Properties and indications: all the plant is very rich in tannin. It also contains saponinas, flavonas and vitamin C. This explains its properties antiinflammatory astringents, antihemorrágicas and. By their action astringent, parched the superficial cells of the skin and mucous (tanned) and coagulate the small blood vessels.

Internally, its use is appropriate in acute and chronic diarreas, disenterías and gastritis (including hemorrágicas).

Externally, as much the decocción as the fresh juice of pimpinela greater is applied in compresas, to cure wounded and ulcers of the skin; in gárgaras in cases of estomatitis (inflammation of the mouth) and faringitis (throat irritation); in washings annals, against the hemorroides (desinflama and cuts the hemorrhage); and in vaginal irrigations in case of leucorrea and vaginitis.

Use: decocción of 100 grs. by root in a liter of water, during 15 minutes, to which the aerial parts of the plant can be added; 3 or 4 daily cups are consumed.

For external use, the same decocción, but more concentrated. Also the fresh juice of the crushed plant can be used. As much the decocción as the juice is applied of some of the following forms: vaginal compresas, rinsings and garglings, and irrigations.
