The seeds of the tree of the tail (nitida Tail (Vent.) Schott ET Endl. or of the acuminata Tail (Beauv.) Schott ET Endl.), dried and deprived of the tegumentos.
Active Principles
Xanthic bases: caféina (1-2,5%), plans of teobromina and teofilina. Tannins (5-10%): catecol, epicatecol; flobafenos, potassium salts.
Farmacológica Action
Stimulating of the central nervous system (comparable to the coffee or tea), defatigante, cardiotónico, digestive, lipolítico, diurético.
Indications
Like energizante, in asthenias, hipotonías, hypotension, bradicardia, convalecencia. Dispepsias hyposecretory. Used to increase physical and intellectual the yield.
Contraindications
It does not agree to administer it to children nor people with anxiety, insomnia, paroxística tachycardia, neurovegetativas hypertension and distonías in general.
Not to prescribe forms of metering with alcoholic content for oral administration to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Indirect effect
Excitation, insomnia, tachycardia. It can cause followed overexcitement of depression.
The tail nut releases of slow form caffein, reason why it presents/displays a stimulating effect smoother than the coffee and extends the time of elimination of caffein, which power the exciting effect of the refrescantes drinks in which associate go to other drugs with xanthic bases: to avoid the associations with coffee, you, kills or guaraná (Peris ET al., 1995).
Precaution/Poisonings
To prescribe in form of discontinuous treatments.
To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
- Dust: 1 to 2 g/día, in capsules.
- dry Extract (5:1): 0,3 to 1 g/día.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 20-60 drops, 1-3 times to the day.
