Abundant mineral salts: iodine, sodium, potassium, silica, calcium. Polisacáridos: soluble alginatos (30-40%), laminaranas, glucosanas: laminarina (35%), manitol. Mucílagos, floroglucinol, vitamins To, B, C, D and E.
Farmacológica Action
Remineralizante, vitaminic, stimulating of the general metabolism when activating the thyroid, hipolipemiante. Floroglucinol exerts an antibiotic action, manitol is diurético osmótico, laxative. The algina, by its great capacity of swelling produces sensation of gastric repleción and, by its capacity of coating of the mucous, they have a antiulcerosa activity. The calcic alginato is the hemostatic premises of fast action.
Indications
Helping in the treatment of the hipotiroidismo, overweight, hipercolesterolemia, arteriosclerosis, constipation, gastroduodenal enterocolitis, ulcus, oligo-anuries. Externally (alginato calcic): dental hemorrhages, epistaxis, dérmicas ulceraciones.
Contraindications
Hipertiroidismo, treatments with cardiotónicos, arterial hypertension, plasmática hiperosmolaridad, dehydration.
Precaution/Poisonings
They can contain heavy metals: to use only specialties with the due sanitary control.
By the difficulty to value its iodine content, it is recommended to prescribe standardized galénicas forms.
To prescribe during short periods of time, by the possible appearance of toxic symptoms (yodismo), which had to the iodine accumulation (Peris, JB ET al., 1995).
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
Internal use:
- Decocción: to macerate during 4 10 hours g in water 100 cc. To boil 5 minutes. To take a cup before the meals.
- Dust: 0,5 to 5 g/día, administered before the meals.
- dry Extract (5:1): 100-400 mg/cápsula. To take 1-3 to the day, between average and one hour before the meals.
External use:
- Bath of seaweed.
- glicólico Extract (1/5): in creams or gels.
- calcic Alginato, on the glass affection.
