The denominated fern "female" is commonest of all; the one that occupies to us receives its name by contrast with the previous one. His rizoma, perhaps long ago fálico symbol, contains the active principles of the plant.
CHARACTERISTICS: He is one of the ferns that present/display greater dimensions. Frondes can reach to a meter of length; they are born of an end of rizoma, in number of 8 or 10. Rizoma is, also, of heaviest, up to 10 cm. of diameter and almost 40 of length. From very small the end opposed to the one of frondes they arise raicillas that assures the absorption nutrients. The esporas, grouped in soros denominated spherical structures, are located in the inferior face of frondes.
LOCATION: It grows in humid forests, zones separated from the solar light, next to streams, sources or pools. It prefers the forests of oaks or you have, but one adapts other vegetal communities if the high humidity degree stays that needs.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES: As one has already scored, rizoma, rich in fluoroglúcidos, is used to expel the parasitic worms from the intestine of the man, but two important observations must consider. On the one hand, these compounds paralyze the worm but to does not kill, by to that the treatment must be completed with some substance that helps to evacuate the intestinal content (laxative). The second question is that the fluoroglúcidos ones can be toxic for the man if the dose is not the suitable one.
HARVESTING: The amount of fluoroglúcidos of rizoma varies according to the time of the year. The autumn is the ideal moment to gather rizomas, since it is when their active principles are in their Maxima concentration.
USES And APPLICATIONS: By the problems that can cause an overdose, he is advisable that is a specialist that sets the standard, an overdose could cause blindness and in extreme cases the death
Active Principles
Oleorresina (5-15%), that consists of a resinous fraction constituted basically by derivatives of floroglucinol: filicina (mixes of monocyclical phenolic derivatives (aspinidiol, filicínico acid); bicyclical (albaspina, acid flavaspídico) and tricyclic (acid filícico) and a etérea fraction (essential oil) with free fatty acid plans.
Farmacológica Action
Parasiticida, assets in front of nematodes, trematodos and cestodos.
Incompatible with alcohol, oil and fats, that favor the intestinal absorption of floroglucinoles.
Indirect effect
It can cause gastroenteritis, hematuria and broncoespasmos.
Precaution/Poisonings
Very toxic plant (DL: 0,3-3 g/Kg of etéreo extract).
Exclusive use by prescription and under medical checkup.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
We recommended to abstain to prescribe it para.uso.interno.
