The tannins produce an effect astringent (the antidiarréico, hemostatic premises, healing) and bactericidal; the flavonoides a venotónico and vasoprotector effect: it increases the elasticity of the veins and the hair resistance, reduces the permeability.
Indications
In internal use: diarreas. Varices, hemorroides, flebitis.
In topical use: dérmicas and corneales wounds, parodontopatías, faringitis, ulceraciones, blefaroconjuntivitis, dermatitis, eritemas, prurito, vulvovaginitis, hemorrhages postshaved (lotion).
Contraindications
Gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer (to see indirect effect).
Not to prescribe forms of metering with alcoholic content for oral administration to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Indirect effect
The tannins can irritate the gastric mucosa, this indirect effect can be palliated associating it to drugs with mucílagos, like the malvavisco.
Precaution/Poisonings
To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
Internal use:
- Infusion (leaves): a dessert teaspoon by cup. Two cups to the day.
- Decocción (crust): 30 to 60 g/l, to boil 2 minutes, two cups to the day.
- fluid Extract: 1 to 4 g/día (1g = 38 drops), in dose of 30 drops.
- It tinctures (1:10): 50-100 drops, two to three times to the day.
- dry Extract (5:1): 0,3 to 1 g/día.
- Dust: 0,5-2 g/día.
Topical use:
- Decocción (crust): 30 to 60 g/l, to boil 2 minutes, two cups to the day.
- fluid Extract (1:1), tinctures (1:5) or glicólico extract (1:5), in pomada form of, gel or cream: in varices to apply giving a massage in ascending sense.
- Lotions (with alcohol 45º).
- Water distilled of hamamelis.
