Although this tree cultivates itself as food for the cattle millenia ago in all the Mediterranean river basin, their remarkable medicinal properties were not discovered to decades ago.

Habitat: own of the Mediterranean countries. In America some varieties are known (black carob tree and carob tree of the Antilles).
