Family: Cucurbitáceas.
Description Of Greek ecbálllo, flowery piston rod, with reference to the insemination method. Herbaceous, crawling plant, with white fleshy root. Substantial stem provided with small branches. The leaves are pecioladas and escabrosas, hispid, astadas, acorazonadas, teething, wrinkling, tuberculares, of gray green color, with the off-white inferior lamina. The masculine flowers are yellowish, and they are developed in the armpit to foliar, snaped like a bwll, with the pentalobulada corola. The feminine flowers are similar to the masculine ones. The fruit, pepónide, is great, hispid, green, fleshy. The accumulation of liquid increases the pressure, so that when arriving at the maturity it sends the seeds far from the plant; these smooth and are squashed. It is common in the coastal zones in the outskirts of the rural populations, specially in the Mediterranean zone. It is collected in summer.

Note: If this plant interferes, it can cause serious gastroenteríticos upheavals with hemorrhages, and in case of overdoses, the death. In gravidez state the plant is abortion, and it studies in legal medicine. The popular custom exists to breathe the juice in the cases of favismo and when the bile of the blood wants to eliminate itself. Elaterio, suitably dosed, has been used in the cure of the obesity, in associated general to sedatives or mucilaginosas substances that mitigate the drastic action.
