Description biennial Grass provided with ready basal leaves in rosette from which, to the second year, the stem emerges approximately from a meter of height. The root is fusiform and blackish, the turgid, graft stem, place setting of hairs. The inferior leaves oblong and are lanceoladas, whereas caulinares is sésiles, whole, amplexicaules. All the leaf is covered with tomento. The inflorescencia is an ear of red or violet color. The chalice of the flowers is pentasépalo. The fruit is made up of four aquenios slightly aculeados.
