Active Principles
Heterósidos bitter (secoiridoides): centapicrina, swerciamarina, eswerósido, genciopicrósido, centaurósido. Fenol-carboxílicos plans of flavonoides, acids. Plans of alkaloids: gencianina; potassium and magnésicas salts, tannins.
Farmacológica Action
Appetizer, by their pure bitter principle (the old ones called "fel terrae", hiel of the Earth); eupéptico, stimulating of secretions digestive, hepatobiliares and pancreáticas, carminativo, diurético, hipoglucemiante, antiseptic, antipyretic and antitusígeno. Like almost all bitter the pure ones considered stimulating of the natural defenses. At external level he is antiinflammatory and vulnerario (healing, antiseptic).
Indications
Lack of appetite, dispepsias hyposecretory, meteorismo, disquinesia to hepatobiliar. Influenza, resfriados. Diabetes, reumatismo, drop, hipercolesteremia. In external use: blefaroconjuntivitis, cleaning and disinfection of hurt and dérmicas ulceraciones.
Not to prescribe forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Precaution/Poisonings
To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
Internal use:
- Infusion: 30 g/l, to instill 10 minutes. Three cups to the day, half an hour before the meals, sweetened with honey.
In order to palliate the irritant effect on the gastric mucosa, it is possible to be associated to demulcentes drugs, like the root of malvavisco). Its intense amaritud can be masked partly if it is combined with crust of bitter orange.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 15-30 drops, before the meals.
- It tinctures (1:10): 30-50 drops before each food.
- Dust: 1-2 g/día, in capsules of 250-500 mg, before the meals.
External use:
- Infusion: 30 to 50 g/l, to instill 10 minutes. To apply in form of coirises or ocular washings (to isotonizar).
- Decocción: 60 to 100 g/l, to boil 10 minutes. To apply in form of washings or compresas, on the dérmicas wounds or ulcers, also is used popularly in hair frictions, to fight the alopecia.
