Gálbulos, essential oil. Oil of each or juniper oil, also called "brea of enebro", obtained by incomplete combustion of the firewood (pirogenación) and later rectification.
Active Principles
Rich essential oil in pineno, with canfeno, juneno, terpineol, guayacol, etilguayacol, cresol, cadineno and a bitter principle: juniperina.
Farmacológica Action
- Gálbulos, popularly is used like: antiseptic, analgesic, hipoglucemiante, emenagogo, abortifacient, diurético, antiasthmatic, anticatarrhal, hypotensile, antipruriginoso expectorante.
- essential Oil: general, aperitive, diurético, carminativo and expectorante tonic. In external use he is rubefaciente, antimicótico and antirheumatic.
- Oil of each, in topical application: antiparasitic, queratolítico, antipruriginoso, antiinflammatory and analgesic antiseptic.
Indications
- Oil of each (topical use): escabiosis, pediculosis. Inflammations osteoarticulares and dermatological problems (acne, eczema, psoriasis seborréicas dermatitises).
Also "si was used to fight the dental pains (was in danger well to lose the tooth by rotura" (Mulet, 1991: 237).
- Gálbulos, essential oil: Lack of appetite; cystitis, uretritis, urolitiasis, oliguria, edemas, hypertension, reumatismo, drop; bronchitis, faringitis, rinitis, sinusitis. Topically in neuralgias, rheumatic pains and dermatomicosis.
Contraindications
The essential oil is contraindicated during the pregnancy (it can have a oxitócico effect), lactancia, childhood or in patients with neurological transtornos (can be neurotoxic) and when inflammatory affections of parénquima exist renal (to see precautions).
In case of cardiac or renal insufficiency, it only must be used like diurético by facultative prescription.
Indirect effect
The essential oil can have an irritating action on endotelio renal. In prolonged treatments it can appear albuminuria and hematuria.
Precaution/Poisonings
Not to prescribe oral forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
Internal use:
- Decocción: 20 g/l, to boil 3 minutes and to instill during 10. Three cups to the day.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 10 to 20 drops, three times to the day.
- It tinctures (1:10): 35-50 drops, one to three times to the day.
- essential Oil: 1 or 2 drops, one to three times to the day, on a lump of sugar, in oleosa or alcoholic solution.
Internal use:
- Decocción: 20 g/l, to boil 10 minutes, to apply in form of compresas or baths.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 10 to 20 drops, three times to the day.
- Alcoholaturo: to apply friccionando the zone to treat.
- Oil of each: liniments, pomadas, ointment, champu, lotions, to 5 %
