Tannins (7%). Arbutósido (that by hydrolysis, half-full by the intestinal bacterial flora, releases hydroquinone). Flavonoides: quercitrósido, miricitrósido.
Farmacológica Action
Diurética. The tannins exert an action astringent (the antidiarréica, hemostatic premises, healing). The hydroquinone has an antiseptic action, with specific tropismo on the urinary routes. The flavonoides, a diurético effect.
Indications
Infections of the urinary routes: cystitis, pielonefritis, uretritis and states in which an increase of the diuresis is required: oliguria, urolitiasis), hiperazotemia, hiperuricemia, drop, arterial hypertension, edemas, overweight accompanied by retention of liquids.
Diarreas.
In topical use: wounds, eczemas, tróficas ulceraciones, gingivitis, parodontopatías, vulvovaginitis.
Contraindications
Gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer.
Not to prescribe forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Precaution/Poisonings
To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
- Infusion: 50 g/l. To instill 10 minutes. A liter to the day.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 25-50 drops, one to three times to the day.
- It tinctures (1:10): 50-100 drops, one to three times to the day.
- dry Extract (5:1): 300 to 1,000 mg/día.
Its use usually is associate to other diuréticas and demulcentes drugs (malva, malvavisco, manzanilla, maize, to avoid the possible irritant effect of tannins on the digestive mucous). He is recommendable to make discontinuous treatments.
