Active Principles

Essential oil (1%): asarona, arisílico aldehyde, metil-eugenol, acetate of bornilo, terpenos, sesquiterpenos, diasarona. Alkaloids: asarina. Ascórbico acid, B1 vitamin.

Indications

At the moment in disuse. One was used for the treatment of chronic and atróficas rinitis, gastroduodenales bronchitis, asthma and ulceraciones.

Contraindications

Pregnancy, lactancia, children, neurological patients with hepatopatías, diseases.

Precaution/Poisonings

Asarona is highly toxic: it produces sensation of quemazón on the language, estornudos, irritation of the gastric mucosa and can be narcotic and abortion. To high doses it can produce asthenia, tachycardia, convulsions, midriasis, fotofobia, disnea, and even comma and death by respiratory paralysis.

To have the account the alcoholic content of the fluid extract.

Galénicas Forms/Dosage

- fluid Extract (1:1): 0,05 g/día like expectorante, 0.2 g/día like vomiting (1 g = 39 drops)

USES

INFUSION

5-10 g by the fresh root by water cup. 1 or 2 cups maximum to the day

EXTERNAL USE

To use the dust by the root or hohas dry to eliminate the nasal mucosity (single pulgarada)
