Essential oil (3-7%), rich in carvona (65%), dihidrocarvona, carveol, dihidrocarveol, limoneno (50%), alpha and beta-pineno, sabineno. Lipids: acids oléico and petroselínico. Flavonoides derived from kenferol and quercetol. Carbohydrates (20%). Acidos fenolcarboxílicos: caféico.
Farmacológica Action
The essential oil produces aperitive, eupéptico, carminativo, espasmolítico an effect, colagogo, antiseptic, fungicida - more powerful than the nistatina (Wichtl) -, mucolítico, expectorante and galactagogo.
Indications
Lack of appetite, flatulencia, gastrointestinales syndrome of Roemheld, hepatobiliares espasmos, dispepsias hyposecretory, disquinesias, gastroenteritis.
Bronchitis, enfisema, asthma.
In topical use: dermatomicosis, otitis, dérmicas cleaning of wounds, ulceraciones, and burns.
Contraindications
Dispepsias hypersecretory, obstruction of the biliary routes.
Hipersensibilidad to some plant of the family of the umbelíferas or asteráceas.
Except for express indication, we recommended to abstain to internally prescribe essential oils during the pregnancy, the lactancia and to smaller children of ten years.
Not to administer to patients with well-known hypersensitivity to this one either other essential oils, nor to apply topically to people with respiratory allergies.
Not to prescribe forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Precaution/Poisonings
Pure the essential oil can be dermocáustico and, to elevated doses, neurotoxic (convulsivante) and abortifacient.
To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
- Infusion: a dessert teaspoon by cup. To boil during 10 minutes and to instill during 15. To before take a cup (aperitive) or after the meals (meteorismo). In topical use: to apply in form of washings or compresas.
- deterpenado essential Oil: 1-3 drops on a lump of sugar, or in microencapsulation (25 to 50 mg/cápsula), one to three capsules to the day, after the meals.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 20-40 drops, one to three times to the day.
- It tinctures (1:5): 50-100 drops, two or three times to the day.
- Dust: 0,5-2 g/día, in 500 capsules of mg, after the meals, or used like condimento.
- Oleate of caraway, applied topically.
