It has a high oxalic acid content and oxalatos; antraquinonas (emodinas), essential oil, iron tannins, quercitina, vitexina, salts (1,5%), vitamin C.
Farmacológica Action
Antianémico, remineralizante, vitaminic. Expectorante, stimulating of the organic defenses, protective capillary, appetizer, diurético: By his content in antraquinónicos derivatives it would have to present/display a smooth laxative action; nevertheless, by its tannin content is astringent (its main popular application is like antidiarreico and the hemostatic premises).
Indications
Constipation, diarrea. Anemia, convalecencia. Resfriados and influenza. Popularly it has been used like "depurativo", in the treatment of bottom of chronic dermatológicas affections (eczemas, soriasis, etc.).
Contraindications
Litiasis renales oxalic, by its content in oxalatos.
Indirect effect
To high doses it can produce vomits, diarreas and alterations of the micción (to see poisoning).
Precaution/Poisonings
The poisoning is pronounced like a gastroentérico picture: cólicos nauseas, vomits, pains, diarrea. In serious cases it can produce hipocaliemia, metabolic acidosis and hepática or renal insufficiency and even the death.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
- Infusion: 1 dessert teaspoon by cup, two cups to the day.
- external Use: To apply to the infusion in form of washings or compresas.
