Plant little studied. It contains: saponósidos esteroídicos; flavonoides (kenferol, quercitrósido, diosgenina, hecogenina, ruscogenina, espirosta-3,5-dieno) and plans of alkaloids: harmano, norharmano.
Farmacológica Action
Analgesic, espasmolítico, diurético azotúrico and uricosúrico and, by topical route, astringent (the hemostatic premises, healing).
Indications
At the moment in disuse. Popularly one has been used for the treatment of the urinary litiasis (specially in case of nefríticos cólicos) and of the arterial hypertension. Topically: wounds, eczemas, estomatitis, faringitis and parodontopatías.
Contraindications
Pregnancy, lactancia, children. Patients with hepatopatías or problems of fotosensibilidad.
Not to prescribe forms of metering with alcoholic content (flowed extract, tinctures, syrup to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación).
Precaution/Poisonings
The use of diuréticos in the presence of hypertension or cardiopathies, only must become by prescription and under medical checkup, given the possibility of appearance of a tensional descompensación or, if the potassium elimination is considerable, an involution of the effect of the cardiotónicos.
It has been observed which the alkaloids (harmano and norharmano) exert irreversible a neurotoxic action on the animals that consume it of repeated form, when blocking itself the neurons associated to the triptamina in the SNC. In addition, the esteroídicos saponósidos ones present/display a hemolítica action, demonstrated in alive in lambs. We recommended to avoid its use internally and in any case to prescribe low doses, in discontinuous treatments.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage

- Infusion: a teaspoon of coffee by cup. Two or three cups to the day.
- Decocción to the 2-3%, 100 to 150 thousands in uninformed.
- Maceration to the 1-2%, taking 250 thousands in uninformed.
- fluid Extract (1:1): 10 drops, one to three times to the day.
- It tinctures (1:10): 20-30 drops, three times to the day.
- Topically, the decocción, in form of washings, compresas or frictions.
