Dismenorrea

Severe pain in the beginning and during the menstruation.

It varies from a woman to another one.

Less severe after to have given light.

There are two types:

PRIMARY DISMENORREA. One appears between the fifteen and twenty-five years, approximately (soon).

SECONDARY DISMENORREA. Usually one appears late much more, after years of menstruations painless, or only annoying.

Causes

Signs and symptoms

Pain in the low part of the abdomen that radiates to inferior column and thighs, usually of cólico type (increases and diminishes of intensity).

Lack of energy.

Nauseas and vomits.

Diarrea.

Perspiration.

Frequent necessity to tinkle.

Irritability, nervousness and depression.

Factors of risk

Familiar history of dismenorrea.

Stress and mental state.

The psychological aspects do not cause the dismenorrea but if they diminish the effectiveness of any treatment.

Lack of physical exercise.

Caffein abuse.

Inflammatory diseases of pelvis.

Prevention

To treat the underlying causes.

Pelvic examination and history of the patient. Treatment

The heat, in abdomen or back, diminishes the pain.

The symptoms can be controlled with the treatment in almost all the cases.

In the secondary dismenorreas the prognosis will be the one of the underlying efección.
