Solgar Elpino is pine bark extract with the exclusive process elavorado Pycnogenol from pine bark Pinus maritime shipping, which grows along the coast of southwestern France, particularly in the protected forest massif des Landes de Gascogne close of the Bordeaux region.
The pine trees are grown in periods between 30 and 50, without the use of pesticides or herbicides.
Pine bark is a rich source of flavonoids, phenolic compounds, including oligomeric proanthocyanidins, monomeric polyphenols (catechin and epicatechin) and organic acids (cinnamic, caprylic, gallic, ferulic, vanillic, parahydroxybenzoic).
This cocktail gives natural pine bark their potent antioxidant activity, and shows a level of proanthocyanidins of approximately 85% (proanthocyanidin A). The antioxidant capacity of this component is 20 times greater than vitamin C and 50 times that of vitamin E.
The richness in flavonoids and polyphenols give it the ability to inhibit lipoxygenase enzyme that converts arachidonic acid into leukotrienes.
The pine bark extract provides selective benefits to the stabilization of collagen (the main protein in connective tissue) and elastin. Two essential proteins in skin care.
The pine bark extract provides a synergistic set of natural nutrients useful in maintaining proper venous health, strengthening the walls of the veins. In this sense the action of reducing capillary fragility, increasing the integrity of the wall of the vein and increases the muscle tone of them.
