Active Principles
Catéquicos tannins (3-10%), combined with more than 20 alkaloids (15%) *, such as the quinine, quinidina, cinconina, cinconidina. Bitter principles (acid triterpénicos): quinovósico acid. Essential oil plans.
* According to the R.F.E., the dry drug it must contain at least a 6.5% of total alkaloids, of which less of 30% and more of 60% they are not alkaloids of the type of the quinine.
Farmacológica Action
It is a tonic, appetizer, digestive, colagogo, astringent, febrífugo, antiprotozoario, antiseptic, healing. The quinidina is a cardiac, potenciador tonic of the action of the digitálicos.
Indications
Lack of appetite, dispepsias hyposecretory, disquinesias hepatobiliares. Febrile influenza, asthenia, convalecencia, affections, malaria. Prophylaxis of the cardiac arrhythmias, treatment of the paroxística tachycardia and the auricular fibrilación. Nocturnal cramps. In external use: faringitis, estomatitis, alopecia by seborrea.
Contraindications
Hipersensibilidad to the Peruvian bark or some of its components.
Pregnancy, by its oxitócica action.
Extreme anemias, by the risk of appearance of hemolíticos accidents.
Treatment with digitálicos or anticoagulants (it can harness his action).
Gastroduodenales gastritis, ulcers (by tannins).
Not to prescribe oral forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.
Indirect effect
Occasionally, after the taking of prepared of Peruvian bark, they appear cutaneous allergic reactions or fever. With smaller frequency the appearance of trombocitopenia has been described.
Precaution/Poisonings
Its prolonged use or the taking of high doses can cause nauseas, vomits abdominal pains, alterations of hearing and the vision, jaquecas and cutaneous eruptions.
To consider the alcoholic content of the flowed extract, the dye and the syrup.
Galénicas Forms/Dosage
Internal use:
- Decocción to 2%. To boil 5 minutes. To take one or two cups to the day, half an hour before the meals.
- destanizado fluid Extract (1:5, containing 5% of quinine): 25-50 drops, one to three times to the day.
- It tinctures (1/5): 50-100 drops, one to three times to the day.
- Syrup (5% of destanizado fluid extract): One to four spoonfuls to the day (20-60 g).
- Macerated: 20 g/l. To let macerate one hour. Half an hour to take a cup before the meals.
External use:
- Decocción to 3% for garglings, colutorios.
- Dye, glicólico extract (1:5): applied in form of lotion or champú.
