Family: Cariofiláceas.

Description: Herbaceous, fragile plant, with the ascending, graft, slightly tomentoso stem crawling. The leaves oval or are elípticoacorazonadas, with the whole margin, provided with pecíolo short and even sésiles in the superior part. The flowers are grouped in the apex. They are pentasépalas and pentapétalas, white, bilobed, present throughout the year. The fruit is an oval capsule that contains flat seeds of color parduzco. Very common in all the sites and, in some cases, infestante. It also grows in the urban centers. It reaches the 10-15 cm. is collected in summer.

Active Principles: Saponina, salts, tannin.

Indications: Diurética, vulneraria, astringent.

Its Uso: Infusion, juice, distilled water, tincture.

Of Interest: In some zones this species is consumed in the salads, having taken advantage of the apical part, although its use by the saponina presence advises against.
