The flowery sumidades of the Mediterranean siempreviva (Helichrysum stoechas (L.) Moench) or of European (the Helichrysum arenarium (L.) Moench).

Active Principles

Essential oil: acetate of nerilo, furfural, alpha-pineno. Flavonoides: helicrisina B (salipurpósido, chalcona responsible for the coloration of the involucrales brácteas), isosalipurpósido, derived from luteolol, quercetol and kenferol. Fitosteroles: beta-sitosterol. Derivatives of floroglucinol: helipirona, italipirona, plicatipirona; derivatives of acetofenona: arenol, homoarenol.

Farmacológica Action

Antiinflamatorio, antitusivo, antibacterial (germs gram +), antifúngico (Candida albicans, Mycobacterium phlei), expectorante, diurético, colerético, colagogo. Popularly it is used also like febrífugo, antihelmíntico and, of magical form, like antihemorroidal.

Indications

Respiratory allergies, influenza, resfriados, bronchitis, rinitis, sinusitis, tonsilitis. Hepatobiliares gastritis, hepatitis, disquinesias, colecistitis.

Cystitis, uretritis.

In topical use: eczemas, blefaroconjuntivitis, parodontopatías, candidiasis and other dermatomicosis, vulvovaginitis.

Contraindications

Hipersensibilidad to the essential oil.

The essential oil is not due to prescribe by oral route during the pregnancy, the lactancia nor to small children.

Not to prescribe oral forms of metering with alcoholic content to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.

Precaution/Poisonings

To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.

Galénicas Forms/Dosage

- Infusion: 1 or 2 spoonfuls of dessert by cup. To boil 2 minutes. 1-2 times to the day, after the meals.

- fluid Extract (1:1): 30-50 drops, one to three times to the day.

- It tinctures (1:5): 50-100 drops, two or three times to the day.

- Syrup (5-10% of fluid extract): 1-3 cucharadadas to the day.

Topical use:

- Infusion, applied in form of washings, ocular colutorios, garglings, compresas, baths (to isotonizar), irrigations, instilaciones, etc.

- fluid or glicólico Extract (1:5), tinctures or creams or gels elaborated from them.
