Description perennial Shrub with abundant ramifications and leaves, paripinnadas, with oval or elliptical, sésiles, coriáceos, shining folíolos. The superior face is green, inferior opaque and the clear one. Whole edge. Squashed and winged Pecíolo. The flowers are arranged in small clusters in the armpit of the leaves, with pentalobulado chalice and five estambres. Reddish color. The fruit is one drupa almost spherical, first red and later black one, that contains a white seed. It gives off aromatic scent and it is a typical species of the Mediterranean one, growing in the coastal zones whereas in the interior is very rare. It can reach up to 3 m.s is collected in spring.

Composed chemical: Essence, tannin, masticina, mástico acid.

Properties: Expectorante, antidiarreico. Way of use Dusts.

Of interest: The resin that shoot of spontaneous way or after the incision is known vulgarly with the name "mástic". Its scent remembers the one of the trementina and usually is also used like dental adhesive and in the nourishing industry, for the manufacture of masticadores. They also use the restauradores and the photographic industry. From the lentisco seeds, an oil is obtained, with high performance, adapted for the prepared illumination, saponificación and manufacture of cosmetic.
