Active Principles

Pirrolizidínicos alkaloids: fuchesisenecionina, sececionina. Essential oil: beta-cariofileno anhidrooplopanona, alpha-bisabolol, beta-cariofileno and oxide. Flavonoides: flavónicos derivatives, rutósido, quercetósido. Heterósidos cumarínicos: esculetósido. Clorogénico and fumárico Acidos, cinarina, tanósido. Alcanas, alcanoles saturated and insaturados; fatty acids. In rizoma: sesquiterpénicos esters of the furano-eremofilano type: nemoseninas To, B, C and D, senemorina.

Farmacológica Action

It is used like hipoglucemiante, venotónico, emenagogo, antidismenorréico.

Indications

Hiperglucemia, varices, hemorroides, amenorrhoea, dismenorrea.

Contraindications

Hepatopatías, pregnancy, lactancia.

Precaution/Poisonings

To avoid its prescription or, in any case, to do it during brief periods or you cure discontinuous. Its toxicity is very well-known on the cattle (intestinal hemorrhages, hepáticas injuries). In the man it is considered that the alkaloids can induce hepáticas injuries and produce effects mutagénico and carcinogénico.

When it is administered to diabetics, by its potential hipoglucemiante action, glucemia will be due to control in case it is required to modify the doses of insulin or oral hipoglucemiantes.

Galénicas Forms/Dosage

- Infusion: a spoonful of dessert by cup, to instill 10 minutes. Three cups to the day.

- fluid Extract (1:1): 10 to 30 drops, one to three times to the day.

- It tinctures (1:5): 50-100 drops, one to three times to the day.
