Active Principles

Essential oil: geraniol, citronelal, linalol, terpineol; it draws resin from. Abundant tannins (35%). Bitter principles: geraniína. Acidos organic: málico, citrus.

Farmacológica Action

The tannins confer an action to him astringent (antidiarreico, hemostatic); the essential oil has an analgesic and antiseptic effect. It presents/displays in addition smooth a diurética and hipoglucemiante action.

Indications

Diarreas.

States in which an increase of the diuresis is required: genitourinarias affections (cystitis, ureteritis, uretritis, pielonefritis, oliguria, urolitiasis), hiperazotemia, hiperuricemia, drop, arterial hypertension, edemas, overweight accompanied by retention of liquids.

Diabetes.

In topical use: inflammations osteoarticulares, hurt and dérmicas, buccal or corneales ulceraciones, buccal blefaroconjuntivitis, estomatitis, glositis, aftas, parodontopatías, faringitis, tonsilitis, dermatitis, eritemas, prurito, vulvovaginitis.

Contraindications

Gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer: the tannins can irritate the gastric mucosa, this indirect effect can be palliated associating it to drugs with mucílagos, like the malvavisco.

Not to prescribe forms of metering with alcoholic content for oral administration to smaller children of two years nor to consultantes in process of etílica deshabituación.

Precaution/Poisonings

Hipersensibilidad to this one or other essential oils.

Except for express indication, we recommended to abstain to internally prescribe essential oils during the pregnancy, the lactancia, to smaller children of six years, patients with epilepsy, Parkinson or other diseases neurological.

Not to apply topically to smaller children of two years or people with respiratory allergies.

To consider the alcoholic content of the fluid extract and the dye.

Galénicas Forms/Dosage

Internal use:

- Infusion: a spoonful of dessert by cup, to instill 10 minutes. Three cups to the day, after the meals.

- essential Oil: 2 to 4 drops, three times to the day, on a lump of sugar, in oleosa or alcoholic solution.

External use:

- fresh, crushed and applied Plant on the wounds.

- Decocción: 30 g/l, to boil ten minutes. To apply in form of colutorios, ocular garglings, compresas or baths.

- essential Oil, in alcoholic or oleosa solution.
