He is original of the American continent. Several medicinal uses are attributed to him, between most important they are the antihemorrágico and the healing. The used parts more of this plant are the leaves, crust, flowers and fruits. Shrub of up to 5 ms of height that has medium leaves, grouped in opposite form. All the year blooms and their flowers are red and are located in the ends of the branches. The fruits are globosos and black when they mature. It grows in warm and semiwarm climates. One is associate to diverse types of tropical forest caducifolia, subcaducifolia, subperennifolia and perennifolia, and forests mesófilo of mountain, encino and pine.
