Description: Turgid herbaceous plant, with graft stems. The leaves, alternating, are ovadoelípticas, with acute apex, whole or lobuladodentadas, with pecíolo, tomentosas. The flowers are arranged in the armpit of the ramifications, pedunculadas. The chalice is multilobulado, and the corola tubular and is multilobulada, of violet color. The fruit is a berry of elipsoidal or globosa form, with soft, carrying pulp of numerous brown seeds. This species has been original of India, and has been naturalized for a long time. It is cultivated frequently in the orchards and it is rare in spontaneous form. It can measure more than 70 cm. is collected at the end of summer.
Active Principles
Caféico and clorogénico Acidos, hill, trigonelina. In epicarpio: antocianósidos (violamina, hidrolizable in glucose, ramnosa and cumarínico ester of delfinidol).
