Description: Perennial, very graft Subfrútice, with rizoma serpenteante. The leaves are perennial, alternating, coriáceas, elliptical, with the obtuse apex, something pecioladas. The edge is doubled downwards. The flowers are arranged in clusters in the extremity of the branches, with the tubular pentalobulado and corola chalice, finished with five lobes. The color of the flower is white reddish and the fruit, a spherical, rough red berry, that contains seeds with abundant albumen. The plant can reach the 35 cm. of height. It is collected in June. It is common in the montanos meadows and the sunny slopes.

Active Principles: Ericolina, arbutina, tannin, gálico acid, acid citrus, sugar.

Indications: Antiseptic, antidiurético, litóntrico, astringent.

Its Uso: Decocción, flowed extract, tincture.

Of Interest: It is a sucedáneo of gayuba, until the point of which the leaves are used for their falsification. The fruits are eatable and pleasant. With them jams and gelatins are prepared. All the plant is used for operations of tanning. Given the high nectar production very it is looked for by the bees.
