Alquimila arvense is a herbaceous plant pertaining to the family of the rosaceous ones. One is an annual plant of little height, at the most of a handspan of height. The leaves have a short tip and are divided in three gores, which as well return to divide themselves in deep teeth. Each leaf takes a pair of estípulas that, knitting in a single piece, forms a graceful rebosante cornucopia of florecitas. One grows up in sandy places, mainly in the silíceos and of preferred way in the seeded ones of all the country, although he is not either strange to see it throughout.

It begins to bloom as of the month of March and continues until entered good the summer. Of the harvesting with medicinal aims it interests the plant whole, that one is due to collect when is in flower or on the verge of blooming. Next one is due to put to dry but fast the possible thing, or in the shade, or better still in dryer to temperatures not too much elevated in order not to spoil its properties. Finally one keeps in hermetic bottles, safe from the light and the humidity.

Of the composition of this plant little it is possible to be said, since serious studies do not exist on the matter. We can think that alquimila is similar to the composition of other plants of the same sort like "la alpina" or "el foot of león", that is to say, that must be rich in tánicas matters and other components of smaller therapeutic interest. As far as his farmacológicas actions, it is used just as the two species that we have named previously. Astringent is used against the diarrea by its important action. Also one is used against the pain belly and gastrointestinales inflammations. Another one of the effects that are attributed to him is to be a good tonic and to act topically like antiinflammatory.

The name of "alquimila" it comes from the time of the alchemists, who had much faith in these plants and they used them to use in many of his multiple experiments. One of the things that woke up more its curiosity was to see the water that distilled these plants, which urged to them to think that many qualities of them could be taken advantage of and be extracted.

Cocimiento: It is prepared putting to boil little more than a water cup with a puñadito of the grass. It is taken when still he is hot and some add other grass to give aroma to him. Although it is used just as others alquimilas, seems that this is less active of all.

Tonic. Astringent. Antiinflamatorio.
