LAVENDER

It is a grass pertaining to the family of the labiadas ones, often confused with another plant of the same sort: lavandula spica (espliego). In fact, one is 2 different species, but in some zones of Spain one attributes to the femenine to lavándula spica and masculine to lavándula latifolia to him.

In any case, the wide lavender difference of any other species by the high and ramoso stem and leaves and blanquecinas. In addition, the aroma that dismisses this plant is not as pleasant as the one of espliego. One grows up in slopes and low earth cols, between the scrubs and in forests not very leafy.

In the flowering also it has been being easy to distinguish it of espliego, because for a month later, with the July heat. Even so, in the zones where these 2 species coexist, are plants mixes of the two that are different by their essence and which they are of smaller quality than the extracted one of espliego. Since we have already commented, the essence of the lavender is much less fine than the one of espliego since it is made up mainly of camphor, borneol, terpinol and cineol. This essence has antispasmodic, antiseptic and stimulating properties in general, and it is recommended in cases of asthenia, gastrointestinales enterocolitis, espasmos and in external use like antiseptic in dérmicas infections and minor wounds. It is necessary to remember that the essences can produce, at least, allergic irritation of the mucous, reactions and - in dose high migraines, nauseas, vomits and somnolencia; for that reason facultative advice to personnel is due to request.

Infusion: It is prepared with the dose equivalent to a small spoonful of dessert by each boiling water cup. They can be taken up to 3 cups to the day.

Essence: Of 2 to 4 drops administered on a lump of sugar or in encapsulated form.

External use: As much in infusion in form of washings or compresas or using the essence in alcoholic solution, with the same aim.

Stimulating. Antiseptic. Antispasmodic.
