Description: Arbol of grayish crust, up to 20 ms of height with lenticelas blanquecinas. The leaves are imparipinnadas and present/display up to 12 lanceolados folíolos. Small flowers, provided with small terminal bracteolas in mazorcas, May to July. The chalice is short, with the lobes in roofing tile; corola pentapétala of greenish color. Androceo with ten estambres and anther with lóculo double. Gineceo formed by four carpelos maintained by a short style the fruit is one sámara membranosa that contains a squashed seed. The plant gives off a disagreeable scent. It grows naturalized in fields and gardens. The plant comes from China and the harvesting takes place in spring.

Note: The leaves have been used like colorante substance for the treatment of the wool (dyed in yellow) and for the manufacture of paper, given the high amount of contained cellulose. The species was introduced to develop the industry of the silk, although it did not serve for this aim. Nevertheless, ailanto extended with a surprising facility. It must be acted wisely in relation to its use internally, since not yet sufficiently it has been experimented. An overdose has in the first place laxative and later emética action
