L-Phenylalanine, 500 mg.
USES:
Amino acids are essential for health. It is the small structural components of proteins, and are necessary for the synthesis of the same in the body. The main function of most amino acids is to provide essential materials for duplication of the genetic code for cell division and the formation of muscles and connective tissue.
Amino acids are classified as essential amino acids and nonessential amino acids, the latter are amino acids that can be manufactured in the liver from other amino acids and from materials found in our food. Essential amino acids are those that can not be synthesized in the body, but can be obtained from plants and animals.
Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid is the precursor amino acid tyrosine. Like tyrosine, is also the precursor of catecholamines, among which are dopamine, epinephrine (also known as adrenalin), and tyramine. It is metabolized in the liver. The normal metabolism of phenylalanine requires iron, niacin, vitamin B-6, copper and vitamin C.
Phenylalanine is a precursor of several catecholamines and also of ubiquinone (coenzyme Q 10). It also plays an important role in learning and memory processes.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1 capsule daily with water or fruit juice.
Amino acids are best taken half an hour before a meal or before bedtime.
WARNINGS:
Do not take if patients with phenylketonuria (PKU).
Do not take if pregnant or breastfeeding.
Should not be given to people treated with monoamine oxidase (MAO) (a type of antidepressant).
