California poppy (Escholtzia californica)

This plant is named after J.F. Escholtz, Russian botanist who discovered it in California in the early nineteenth century. From the same family as opium poppy, the escholtzia has sedative and hypnotic properties. As above, owes its activity to a number of alkaloids, but the lack thereof do not cause toxicity and mental disorder, or habit. Sedative is therefore recommended in case of nervousness, stress, problems falling asleep and nighttime awakenings. In addition, the antispasmodic effect soothes the pain and intestinal spasms. Finally, relieves itching, hives if sedative effect.
