A little history:

The Maya have always been interested in research and application of plants that filled the vast geography of Mexico, using each other for food and medicinal or cosmetic purposes. Among the wide range of natural products produced by Mexico in the world today, we found a plant which by its shape and location, in the pre-Hispanic era was called "Tepezcohuite" root name of the Nahuatl language that experts say official tepezcuahuitl comes from the word meaning "hill tree bleeds. " This shrub was used by the Maya for more than 10 centuries as a cure for skin diseases.

The roasted Tepezcohuite was used by the Maya to the tenth century for the treatment of superficial skin lesions. Today it is still used because it has a great regenerative power cell. His brilliance as a civilization coincides with the height of his Classical Period (250-900 AD), so that when the Spanish explorer Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba in 1517 reached the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, found only a shadow of its former glory . However the "footprint" Maya is still very clearly in large areas Mesoamerican, and their customs, practices and traditions can still learn and get practical benefits.

Tepezcohuite had no secrets to the Maya and from time immemorial been used to treat skin lesions. The implementation of the bark powder on wounds and burns especially soothed the pain of them and greatly accelerated healing, avoiding even the appearance of scars.

Such skin regenerative properties, they believe those Mayans, it was a sacred tree. Therefore, the traditions of native Americans who tell us the effects of "magic" of tepezcohuite in the treatment of ulcers, wounds and burns of various kinds. Ancestral knowledge that was not forgotten and has survived thanks to the folk traditions.

Curiously modern science and recent studies confirm the excellent properties of this natural product. So we can say that the tepezcohuite has bacteriostatic properties, antiseptic, analgesic, healing and regenerating.

In 1984, a factory had exploded, leaving 500 people with severe burns. Dr. Leon Roque who was familiar with the plant Tepezcohuite, wanted to see the healing abilities of the plant by applying it to the people being burned. We applied powder Tepezcohuite bark as a cure for burnt skin. With this test proved the capabilities of anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anesthetic and regeneration of a plant.

During the earthquake in Mexico in 85 was used and was considered a miracle in action Tepezcohuite Tlalnepantla hospitals.

And because these capabilities, the Tepezcohuite has been widely used in pharmacology and cosmetics as a skin rejuvenating agent, mixed with other products such as ginseng, it gives a more effective treatment. To this end we have developed products such as creams, soaps, shampoos and lotions.

For all these reasons and more, it is not surprising that the Maya believed that the plant was tepezcohuite "miraculous. "
